Eco-friendly Steps

2020 has undoubtedly been a crazy year so far! A year filled with experiences and challenges that none of us could have predicted or even anticipated. This has meant that many of us have taken a closer look at our lives and perhaps considered what we could be doing better.

Something we consider really important, as a brand, is the footprint that we leave behind on the world, and we’re continually looking at ways to be eco-friendlier. Below are some recent changes we’ve made to the business, to improve the way we engage with and impact on our planet.

  • We’ve changed the supplier of our postage bags so that they're now made of 100% recycled materials.
  • We've also changed the packaging bags for our slippers and garments. They used to be a polythene bag which has now been replaced with a starch bag so it's 100% biodegradable. This means you can pop it into the compost or your food waste and over time it will break down, returning plant based nutrients to the earth.
  • Like many businesses the current situation has meant that more of us are working from home. Now we know for many businesses it wasn’t necessarily a choice to move to mass home-working but consider for a minute the impact that’s had on cutting down the commute. For us at Bedroom Athletics it’s meant we've reduced our commuter miles by 26,000 a year! Like many businesses, we too are now considering when, how and if we ever return to the daily commute in the same way.
  • We now have our very own range of vegan friendly sandals and vegan friendly slippers!

These are just some of the ways we’re trying to think more consciously as a business about the changes we can make to offer a more eco-friendly product and service. If we all make even just some small changes, collectively we can have a much bigger and more lasting impact.
