A memory foam insole is the difference between slippers you kick off after twenty minutes and slippers you forget you are wearing. Every pair on this page has one, from the cord sliders at £20 to the Harris Tweed mules at £70. What changes is what sits on top of it.
The foam reacts to warmth and pressure. It gives way where your heel and the ball of your foot press hardest, then carries the load across the whole footbed rather than a couple of points. Add a firm, non-slip sole and you get something that copes with standing at the kettle, not only sitting in a chair.
Mules for getting in and out without breaking stride. The William Harris Tweed mule and the Hanks suede moccasin sit at the top end, both with proper materials over the foam. Slipper boots when the house is genuinely cold, and Gosling, Teddy, Neeson and Leonardo all come fully sherpa lined. Sliders and jersey mules for the months when a boot is overkill.
UK sizes 7 to 14, which runs further than most slipper brands bother with. Memory foam settles over the first few wears, so a new pair will feel firmer on day one than it does a fortnight in. Full measurements are on our size guide, and returns are no quibble.
